2026 ASIA’S BEST RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE DESIGN - LAYAN VERDE

Project Name: Layan Verde
Location: Phuket, Thailand
Company: Dewan Architects + Engineers
Designer: Mohammed Adib - Dewan Architects + Engineers
Owner: Villa Carte Group
Layan Verde redefines high-density residential living within a tropical coastal landscape by prioritizing environmental integration, privacy, and measurable sustainability. Set on a naturally sloped, green site in Phuket, the project preserves existing terrain while increasing green space by 35 percent, allowing architecture and landscape to coexist seamlessly. Guided by the principle of “see but not be seen”, each unit secures panoramic ocean views through layered façades and integrated vegetation that ensure both openness and privacy.
The development comprises 625 lifestyle condominiums and 134 branded residences across 15 mid-rise buildings, organized to balance density with spatial clarity. Elevated structures activate shaded, vehicle-free green zones below, enhancing pedestrian experience and fostering a park-like environment. Passive design strategies, including natural ventilation, shading devices, and high-performance envelopes, contribute to significant reductions in energy, water, and embodied carbon.
By integrating underground infrastructure, biophilic design, and EDGE Advanced sustainability standards, Layan Verde transforms conventional residential typology into a climate-responsive, landscape-driven living environment, positioning itself as a forward-thinking benchmark for sustainable coastal development in Asia.
