The NATURA is a private residence located in Hillsborough Court, set within the lush green hills of Hong Kong’s Mid-Levels. Designed for a single mother and her son, the project explores the emotional and spatial relationship between family, nature, and contemporary urban living.
Inspired by the philosophy of living in harmony with nature, the design draws from the timeless principles of organic architecture and references the calm, human-centric approach seen in Alvar Aalto’s Villa Mairea. Natural materials, particularly wood-grain timber across walls, flooring, and ceilings, establish a warm Scandinavian-inflected atmosphere that promotes serenity and introspection.
The interior is conceived as an “idealized nature” within the city - a sanctuary where light, texture, and spatial flow encourage mindfulness and emotional connection. At the same time, the project integrates modern art and advanced technology, creating a layered living environment where tactile comfort coexists with digital connectivity.
Through this synthesis, The NATURA redefines contemporary residential interiors as spaces not only for living, but for reflection, balance, and a deeper engagement with both nature and self.
